Capitalism works best

Depending on how overhead costs are allocated, a business unit can be made to look like it is earning or losing money, or breaking even. And I question whether Amtrak follows GAAP rules when reporting its financial position every year.

Testimony before congressional committees is more about newspaper headlines & TV soundbites than anything of real substance.

Maybe taxpayers should demand the Congressional cafeteria and fitness center be closed down to save money.
