Last time I saw 2479 it was in pieces sitting alonside Tully Rd. Supposedly, the tender was complete and the drivers were to be reinstalled under the frame. I haven't looked at their website in a LONG time as they had not updated it in years. At one point the fairgrounds board (or does that even still exist?)had told the group they had to get everything off their property.
At one time, they were claiming 2479 would be ready in time for Railfair, Railfair 1991. They are only 21 years late on that one. At some point, I fear some low level county functionary is going to get tired of that junk laying around---the turntable, water tower, some old coaches, and it will all make a short trip over to Sims Metals on first St.
If you think that can't happen, just look up the name of the late Richard Jensen and his part in steam preservation.
