Congragulations are in order for Amtrak Engineer Steve Flemming, who is also a railfan, that ran that train at 110 MPH today and all the days that preceeded it in testing for the last several weeks.
One note, Brian Murphy, Amtrak Engineer out of St. Louis, calculated that doing the maximum speed of 110 in that short distance saves about 2 Minutes, 30 seconds! This is because there is a 100 MPH slow order on a curve, and having to start from the station stops at either end.
Also, this project has made Odell Passing Track, "The fastest siding in all the UP!" Speed Limit on it and through the turnouts are 50 MPH!
Thank you Steve and Brian for the high level of professonalism you demonstrate in the peformance of you duties, and have a safe day.
