No manned helpers out of LaGrande - but most trains are DPU. INPR historically has gone to work in Island City about mid-morning Mon-Fri, then runs light to LaGrande yard, then heads back up the line. Will only run to Elgin on some days, or will deadhead crew to switch mill with engine left there.

Line north, east and west out of Hinkle are hit and miss. Some days and some hours trains run like streetcars, other times it is very quiet.

If you plan on driving out of town, be sure to have studs or be carrying chains. Winters can vary greatly around here. Some snow last night and this morning - I-84 an absolute mess due to idiot drivers and wrecks.
