At least Class 1?! There isn't anything lower than Class 1, except FRA excepted track, and that would mean no passengers under any circumstances. Four miles of operation? MP 22-MP 26?! So is Safeway going to assist in the loading and unloading of passengers around MP 22? I'm sure the passengers will be thrilled to stop at Wilder Ranch after ten minutes, smell the rotting brussels sprouts and shove back to Safeway. Sounds thrilling, especially with the gaudy, rainbow equipment that has zero significance (historically or personally) to anyone in California, much less Santa Cruz. They should rebuild the line, make an effort with the equipment and operation and come back next year.

For $3 more per person, you can ride the Niles Canyon Railway's Train of Lights, with historically accurate equipment that doesn't make people sick to look at while operating over a railroad that has its act together.

Hey Santa Cruz, wanna make an impression? Start talking with NCRY about using SP 5623, SP 2472 and some Subs to run some Holiday trains. Probably a long shot, but I bet it would make Santa Cruz and Iowa Pacific more money and gain them a better reputation if they made at least the effort.

Pray some of the locals repaint those "Spirit of Washington" F7s. Never thought I'd say this, but graffiti is better than that nonsense they're painted with now.
