The port has done some work to keep the line from going any further downhill, brush clearing and the like. I believe they commissioned a study on the cost of reopening the line (they think, once it's opened, there will be enough traffic to allow it to support itself), and are attempting to find the funding for rehab. If you ever get into Royal City, stop by the Port District office and ask to see the study they did on the line. It's very comprehensive.
