How could I have forgotten the substation at South Cle Elum? Senior moment I guess. The tracks from Othello - Taunton - Royal City Jct - Royal City belon0g to the Port of Royal Slope. They operated as a shortline for awhile in the 1980s after MILW pulled out, but haven't operated for many years. As others have pointed out, my second group of pictures were taken on 2/21/2009 and one of them shows a sun kink at Taunton. Tie replacement is the largest item required to make the line operational again. Whether it could generate enough traffic to be self supporting is another matter.
