And another recent study in Portland, Oregon commissioned by Metro also showed that auto usage was up, transit usage is basically unchanged, and bicycle usage isn't as high as expected.
Metro then tried to cover up the report, but The Oregonian got a hold of it and printed it...Metro then had to admit that much of its planning over the last decade was basically for nothing, and that future transportation planning will have to acknowledge that, yes, even in Bike City USA, Transit City USA, Light Rail City USA, and Streetcar City USA - over 80% of trips taken are still by CAR. The good ol' single occupant motor vehicle.
Oh, and since light rail got a resounding defeat in every single ballot measure in the last election...Metro is also having to acknowledge that more planning will need to include bus service.
And all talk of expanding WES? Yup, WES has basically been considered a universal failure.
Bring on the oil trains. And the coal trains.
