Remember, now that it's BNSF, there are other lines nearby ( ex-FW&D & ex-C&S ) that, although longer, can handle the freight without the 3% grades, sharp curves, and old signals & rail present on the Raton Pass line. This is really a no - brainer for BNSF, though I wonder if a line sale may come back to haunt them in the future like the Stampede Pass deal did ???
