I don't know why - but exactly, because this wasn't really a truly bad one, but reading Bruce's bad smell post reminded me of another one that I somehow oddly miss... the smell of an old car in New Jersey. There was something about the smell of a 1960s or early 1970s car with the vinyl seats and the squeaky doors that we used to railfan in the late 1970s - old Fords, Buicks, Chevys... whatever one of us managed to buy for $500 or a grand... and piled up with other railfans to drive to Allentown or Peekskill or South Amboy or Princeton Junction...

It wasn't a good smell then... but I somehow kind of miss it now.
