All very well said! And I agree totally! But you missed the point of enviromental opposition to the NWP completely.
Though it is very easy to miss; as environmentalism has degenerated into a jumbled mass of hidden adgendas - all political - all Socialist at best - all human hating at worst. Any human activity knocking one small pebble out of where "Nature" put it, is presumed to be an unacceptable enviromental impact; as is anyone putting even one small footprint near a long abandoned ant trail.
To understand modern enviromentalism, just recall George Orwell's "Animal Farm". This environmental game is just a red herring. As in Orwell's "Animal Farm", the real purpose is power and privilege for the few - the pigs. Marinites are the elitest of the elitist pigs, (I've got mine - now the rest of you trogolytes can go to hell). John Muir has got to be rolling over in his grave! - at ever increasing speed!
But unfortunately, they do talk a convincing line to any mush-headed graduate of Cali-phony-ia schools, where being brained-washed is a pre-requisite. One thing these Marinites are not, though they pretend to be, is "Liberal" - Instead, Fascists every one. Thomas Jefferson was a liberal!
Rational arguments and reasoned thought such as yours will never get thru to these psuedo-liberal mush-heads. If industry and commerce (read properity) is to ever be restarted in the California North Coast (Appalacia of the West), these will simply have to be barged over or bypassed. And if the Constitution's assignment of such matters to the Federal Government can't to that - then we are all doomed to suffer the same fate as the "Late Great State of California" - - - THE STONED AGE!
This is why I got out of there - to where life actually is good, and free of potheads. And where without any help from them, "fragile" mother nature seems to do just fine against us human scum trogolites.
