Well of course. However, they ALWAYS end up finding someone. It may take a while, and they may pay claims through the nose for it, but that is better than only having 5 AFHT crews to pick from.

I've never worked with double-ended pools. Seems like a great idea if time at home is managed and not the same as time away from home.

Trains are rarely held for crews at Roseville, which is my point. It would be far more common if they had to wait for out of town people to be rested or deadheaded down.

I have no positive comment on crew managements handling of crews. However, any idiot can fix a problem by throwing money at it. The goal is to spend the least to get the most. Not an easy task.

Another situation that I know nothing about.

And by the way, I really wasn't trying to start an arguement. I was just offering some reasons for the majority of crews being based in Roseville. There are reasons for both options. In addition, I'm sure lodging is another reason. Instead of having a few crews at a single hotel in various towns. We would have many crews spread over more than one hotel in Roseville. We know we can't count on crew mismanagement to keep track of that! Then add constant shuttling back and forth by Rentzenberger? No way.
