The Talgo tilt system does not have lateral compliance. Thus when it encounters lateral motion in the track it translates that motion into rocking. You can feel the effect on the UP between Eugene and Portland. The BNSF tracks north of Portland seem to lined better and the Talgo rides very much smoother.
