Given the increasing level of acrimony this topic seems to have generated, I'm a little hesitant to offer anything. However, I'm going to take a chance that there might actually be someone reading this site who is interested in finding out more information on Pacific Unified and its proposal to operate the Kaiser Eagle Mountain Railroad as opposed to lobbing hand grenades at each other through cyberspace. If there is anyone like this, I suggest you take another look at the STB website (http://www.stb.dot.gov/), as there have been developments since STB published PURC's notice of exemption on December 7. If you look in the "filings" section of the "E-Library" for "FD 35091", you will find filings by Kaiser Ventures (the owner of Kaiser Eagle Mountain Railroad), Union Pacific Railroad, and a motion by PURC requesting withdrawal of its own exemption filing. If you look in the "Decisions & Notices" section of the "E-Library under the same docket you will find a 12-21-07 decision by STB granting PURC's request to withdraw,discontinuing the proceeding, and addressing the possibility of future filings by PURC or its principals. I will refrain from attempting to further characterize any of these materials, as they speak for themselves(and also I prefer to hide in the trenches as the shells fly overhead).
