Even with the off-season reduced staffing levels, that leaves about TWICE the number of cooks and waiters on the original CZ compared to what you would probably see Amtrak staff a Superliner diner. That is part of the "productivity increase" claim that was mentioned in the original thread. Reducing staff and wringing more productivity out of a worker such as a dining car waiter or cook doesn't have any positive spill-over benefits to the customer that I can see. It translates to frazzled workers, bad attitudes and an overall deterioration of a product or service.
No wonder a lot of people like to reminisce about the "good old days!"
