I understand the rational for having a LOT of the same type of locomotive (parts supplies, need to train repair personnel on only one type of machinery, etc.) to decrese costs where possible, in my opinion, GE has never designed themselves a good looking locomotive (realizing that looks do not pull trains!), after all, the GG1s were designed by Lowery (?). This is only my opinion, I know nothing about which brand is more reliable or not.
