How right you are about the SD40's. I would kick ballast every time I'd see a fully laden grainer pulling Napavine Hill with 5 SD40 variants on it. Damn another brace of green weenies. Where are the C30-7 or sd9's or maybe something freaky like a GP15.

Now days I'd chop off a finger to get to hear 5 unmuffled 645's screaming away.

I was never a fan of Dash-8's, they all sounded like half full washing machines sloshing and chugging away. Dash9's are a little better when they're fully loaded up, you get some nice bark and a little turbo whine. GEVO's are bringing it home though, those have a nice sound and I actually like them better than the ACE's.... the EMD's are too quiet (outside).

Can you tell my favorite aspect of trains is NOISE? :)
