....also, Most railroad employees, with a few exceptions, are NOT rail fans. To most of them it is just a job. Clock in, do your job, clock out and go home. They could care less about the history behind a particular model or whether the esthetics were up to a fans standards. Having only a few different types of locomotive to learn and know is one less thing to worry about. It makes the job that much easier. As a parallel , Southwest airlines only flies one type of Boeing 737. The reason ? ANY pilot in their employ can fly ANY airplane they have ( FAA Type rating is model specific) Scheduling is so much simpler when all your pilots have the same type rating. The same for the railroads, although not as tightly controlled.

So if you don't like GEVO's , Don't watch trains.
