Tom, thank you again for posting these wonderful notes from Frank Saarni. They document an era of SP locomotive deployment when steam was at its best.
One correction though. The helper service of 4211 on 1-406 is well documented, many duplicate slides of that day's operation have been offered on-line. However, she returned that night to West Oakland from whence she was dispatched on a "set-out freight" up the CalPee. She left the consist at Webster, which was later picked up by a crew from Roseville and moved up the West Valley line to Gerber etc. 4211 then ran cab hop to Roseville, arriving about 9:15 AM on November 30th. Thus she was indeed the last AC to run in revenue service, just not on the train you mentioned. Respectfully,
