Maybe the next generation of preservationists will have enough insite and not let the future classics go off to the scrapper. I've always thought it sad no one ever preserved a an SP Trainmaster or SDP-45. We will be lucky if we ever see a non molested SD-45T-2 with 20V 645 prime mover, full light package, and fresh SP paint ever running again. But the ole' fogie steamies did'nt think any of those loco's were important at the time.
..... Oddly enough they never cared enough to save any mainline Western Pacific Steam.
But then again in my screwed up perfect world I would or rathered seen an SP AC-9 saved vs. the ever popular GS 4. And those rotting Santa Fe steam engines at the CSRM; the pride and joy of an imaginary BNSF steam program
