Indeed. Of course, one can use any made-up name to post here.

That said, regardless of what you may have been led to believe, the SD39s were used as general locomotives for as long as they were assigned to the TF pool, and had no more or no less chance than any other type of TF pool locomotives as being used in helper service. The majority of the time they were used in road consists. Looking at published photos from the period will confirm this.

Short Turn-around helpers which were typically placed behind the caboose, were cut off at Summit and turned on the wye there for the return trip to Bakersfield. Consequently, having rear Signal Lights were of little concern.

There are many instances of misleading or incorrect information in Strapac's books, but that's probably of no interest or concern to those outside the railroad industry. You're a truck driver or something, right? I know what a truck is, but never having been employed driving one and therefore can't speak with any authority about them, I suppose I might be naive enough to post something as a "fact" when it's not exactly true.

This is probably of no interest or concern to you, either, but "OPRRMS" was my UserID for SP's internal email system. I use it here rather than my name, because in the past railbuffs have contacted me after getting my email address off the internet with requests for access to railroad property, or cab rides, or wanting me to get things out of the company's computer for them, or a host of other things. So now you know.
