Note bene: this came from a NARP fundraising email (and snailmail (?)) where they say "they" asked for $3.9 b. How a private entity asks for any appropriation from Congress must have been on the pages of my civics book that got ruined in a rainstorm. Can anyone tell how much Amtrak asked for? Joe Boardman has been poison for Amtrak and maybe this reflects that.

I agree with Taxpayer, and taxpayers, that there's way too much misuse of gummint funding for an overreaching gummint doing too much not very well.
