So how is it "safer" to have two crewmembers on a train carrying hazardous materials? Or "just as safe" to have only one crewmember on trains without HM? What it comes down to is the RR's think they can save $$ by reducing crews to one person. Personally I think it would be a false economy.
Eventually all you'll have in the cab of a locomotive on a train is a person and a dog. The only "control" will be a big red STOP button. The person will "monitor" the operation of the train and can push "big red" if they deem it necessary. The person also will need to feed the dog. The dogs job will be to bite the person if they try to push the red button...........
