FWIW, there is a group trying to raise money to build a new modernized Pennsy T1.

Maybe the State of California could pony up a few million for a few T1's to pull their HSR trains at 140mph. I know I'd trek down to that state and pay good money just for a chance to see a T1 up close and personal.
