As much as I hate to agree with Drew on anything, I will point out that the Federal Motor Fuel Tax on Diesel Fuel has not been raised in almost 20 years. If the Feds want trucks to " Pay their Way " a little more, it would just require that Congress do the job we hired them to do. The American Trucking Association and many large trucking companies, are on record as being IN FAVOR of a fuel tax increase, provided that it actually be used on highways.
Also, to Sumotuwe, next time you buy gas, or groceries, or Preparation - H, go around the back of the place and look for the railroad siding. Nope -- it ain't there. Now look for the LOADING DOCK...
