I came on-board at SP when I still had a chance to run almost all of the first generation switchers, and second generation "beasts" like the Alco center cabs, and as far as I'm concerned the SW 1500's were the best diesel switch engine ever made. They are responsive, powerful, have great visibility, good braking, were extremely reliable, and very comfortable to operate.

It is not surprising that they are still in demand.
