You did have a speed restriction for the whole trip: the SSI which said "65 MPH".
We didn't like them either at BS because they didn't kick cars like the 2300s did. I figured out later it was because they were so new, the [Coast] engineers hadn't figured them out yet. With an LE, if someone gave you a proceed sign while standing on the ground at the front step, you could get going fast enougth that he couldn't get on the rear step. I once hauled 5,400 tons from the Homestead to E Oak yard with just one of them. Everything since, praticularly those milti-engine, nimby-banana, diesel-electric roller skates, has been de-evolutionary, a downhill slide.
