Brakey's and conductors are harder to train than circus monkeys, I worked more in the yard, and my switchmen always knew to go out far enough, so I didn't have to lean out, or nothing was going to happen.

I once had a conductor at Anaheim who decided to go caboose first to Buena Park with the caboose stove blowing in my face, and I made sure he didn't do that twice. It's just amazing how you can adjust attitudes with a few quick applications of the independent bake.
