What is WATCO doing with the scrap from this trackage? Is it worth the money to pull it up for scrap?
Reason I'm asking....
In Tacoma we have the old NP line that crossed Pacific Avenue that was sold to Sound Transit. There has to be a stretch of track about 1 mile to where the tracks turn and ST is planning on connecting with the Tacoma Rail trackage from Freighhouse Square.
Grass is growing up all around the track.
I always wondered if another railroad, say Virginia and Truckee or another operation would like that rail. Has to be similar in weight, since it is from the early 1900's ?
Anyone that provide info would be appreciated.
Hate to see tracks torn up too. I lived in Bellingham when NP and GN merged. Lived on Lake Whatcom and remember when GN crews tore out the tracks from Wickersham all along Lake Whatcom back to Bellingham. Wish I had some pictures of that route now!
