These things are tragic all the way around. I know many railroads. I have been on CalTrain when it hit a suicidal young adult. Was in the cab car in fact and heard the screams from the engineer. But to make light or minimize the reasons someone may take this drastic step, even if it is in defense of those who are collateral damage in the act, is ignorant and insensitive.

A kid kills themselves because they're spoiled or got a bad grade? No. Try they were anally raped by a relative for years (as happened to a close personal friend who did try and kill himself multiple times). How about a girl I counselled in high school who was regularly punished by getting cigarettes put out on her skin, then blamed by her mother when her abusive father was thrown in jail. She tried overdosing them jumped in front of a car. I knew and counselled teens when I was in high school and college who had seen and experienced things that would make most of the people on this list sick to their stomachs. And some did make that final decision and ended their own lives because they were staring into a black abyss that I hope none of you will ever see.
