Aren't all the BNSF locomotives that
Metrolink will use only geared for
a max speed of 70? Won't that slow
down their scheduled running times?
Hey -- safety IS VERY important, so
riders will probably just have to get
used to their trips taking a bit longer.
And -- can a locomotive that is geared for
a max speed of 70 be pulled at 79 without
causing it problems?
My understanding is that, once Metrolink puts
the BNSF locomotives in service, all Metrolink
trains will have a Metrolink loco on one end
and a BNSF loco on the other end. (The BNSF
locio will be coupled to the rear of the cab car.)
Is this correct?
Thanks, everyone, for the info about ATS and
everything. This is a fascinating discussion!
