Santa Fe did have freight engines, both steam and diesel, equipped with ATC ( Cab Signals ), for use between Pequot,IL., and Ft. Madison,IA. GP-20's and U25B's were among the diesels so equipped. The ATC system did away with most trackside signals except at Interlockings, which means all locomotives had to have cab signals in ATC territory.
