It looks like
OERM has 61 days to hang wire, install the switch and add rail to the pocket ! Will Metrolink add weekend service to the vacant weekend service 91 line ??? We can only hope !
PERRIS – A ‘test’ train will make its first run on the new Perris Valley Metrolink Extension next weekend. It’s the first track expansion of the Metrolink system in more than 20-years.
Work began early last year on the 24-mile link which will take riders from the South Perris/Menifee station to downtown Riverside with three stations along the way.
Metrolink trains will use an existing BNSF right-of-way that parallels the I-215 freeway, around the base of the Box Springs Mountains behind the UC Riverside campus and through an industrial area of northeast Riverside.
Several miles of new track was part of the $248 million project. Signals, crossing gates and warning lights will also be tested during the initial run.
A ribbon-cutting and the start of service is planned for December 11th.
