Zev? Really? And you have a quote somewhere from him that you can cite on this?
Yes, there is a Los Angeles County Supervisor who does support a one hour running time to Palmdale for local service sharing CHSRA tracks, but it wasn't Zev. But, with that statement of dubious origins ( I think that may have even started on Altamont....?), some of you show only a clear and unique perspective of credulous ignorance about the sordid and unfortunate history of this costly and misguided boondoggle.....
As I've said, there's plenty to legitimately criticize when it comes to the CHSRA, then there is the usual drivel from some folks who just appear to just pull stuff like this out of their rear end, and/or repeat it, just like it's a real fact, that can be documented.......usually as proof of the vast evil train conspiracy.....?
As someone who had to attend the meetings of the CHSRA flea circus, back in its early days, I found Zev and his staff to be almost totally uninterested (didn't give a rat's a$$ that I could tell?). Most folks at the agencies in Southern California actually thought it was a bad joke, until Arnold and Quentin actually put it on the ballot, and it passed. Now we are stuck with the consequences of years of bad planning, based on dubious assumptions, meeting few of California's real travel needs.....and, of course, it shows in a bloated and wasteful project.
Meanwhile, California struggles to find financing for needed and useful improvements to our successful, slow and overcrowded regional corridors, where safer, faster, and more reliable rail service makes good sense.
