Thewy would have bought the UP (former SP) ROW. Bypass the yards in Stockton, Fresno, and Bakerfield and sweeten the deal and build UP a parallel fright-only 70MPH RR. This would use the main rail route through city centers (tunnel or elevated) and run smack dab in the middle of the valley population.



Oh well....
