I think the earlier thread may have answered the equipment question.
Is there now sufficient tunnel clearance via the Siskyou for Amtrak to operate bi-levels via the Siskyou line?
Since the Starlate is on such an abysmally long schedule, with such slow running times on the UP, would it theoretically be any slower to use CORP, rather than UP via Klamath Falls? Ashland, Medford, Grants Pass, Roseberg, and the whole I-5 corridor would seem to be a more populated corridor, with the ability to generate more demand to and from places like Eugene and "Portlandia", than from Klamath Falls?
What additional upgrades (track work, signaling, and PTC improvements) would likely be needed to allow Amtrak to potentially operate via Ashland?
