It was a shippers special. The 4449 headed back to Portland with 2 DRGW business cars and an SD9. It layed over in Roseburg, then ran the rest of the way to Portland the next day. The remainder of the train that didn't return to Portland went over Siskiyou summit. So conventional passenger cars are able to go over Siskiyou pass with no problems. I chased this train on the return trip through Cow Creek canyon to Roseburg, then caught it in Eugene the next day and chased to Salem.
