Must admit my experience with the Cal Cars and San Joaquin was some time ago, before all the cars had gone through their refresh. But they definitely let you know about imperfections in the track, especially in seats near the ends of the cars (which were often all that was available in Fresno and Stockton). At speed, you really wished for handrails like on a subway car when moving around. The Superliner that was frequently in the consist, for the downstairs cafe, rode far better. The ride does seem to be smoother on the Capitol Corridor. At least the refresh for the cars brought back the kick-button for operating the doors between cars that had been standard on Superliners and older passenger cars - omitting that in the original build was a real dunce move by the spec writers.
