Whats wrong with the perfectly good and established bus system they have currently that will take Sonoma county commuters all the way into San Francisco? Whats with stopping in Larkspur, changing to the boat. Stopping at the Ferry Building and taking Muni to get to your eventual destination and doing the same thing in reverse going home? First you pay for the bus fair, then boat fair then Muni fare. It gets expensive and a huge amount of increased commute time. You say that buses take up space on 101. They take up less space than the single driver automobile population and the bus driver doesn't B-S. on a cell phone either. The over-all cost for the bus system is lower also compared with what it will take to acquire all the rolling stock and misc. equipment and personnel to operate the train system. The buses can operate in other areas beside the restricted areas that the train will take. I realize that this position will not be popular with rail fans but there is a lot more at stake than watching a train go by once in awhile by a rail fan so they can take a picture even as much as I enjoy trains.
