In the instance of the US senate seat from California the voter gets the choice of, figuratively, Bill or Hillary Clinton. Definitely moving towards a single party system like China, where voting will wither away. Officials will be appointed for life, like the Pope or Heminger at MTC-ABAG-BART.

The unions who are now the pets of the Party Machine will no longer be needed with no real contested voting any more. I don't know if they know that but they should look at what happens in an enforced, entrenched uniparty state. The public employee unions will just have to accept whatever the apparatchiks dole out to them and like it. Same for the cops.

Political correctness is quickly morphing into the party line.
