Re: Parking Spaces at SMART Station & Ridership Potential

There will be an "agonizing reappraisal", a term from the Eisenhower era.

I am boycotting SMART, on the theory that very poor patronage figures will get a handle on who are the insiders who misconceived this thing. At least flush them out. My two suspects would be Doug Bosco and Jared Huffman. The ones who are trumpeting diesel and freight.

Abandon formally the NWP, electrify and extend to Marin City and eventually to the City. Lots of flyovers, say in difficult spots in San Rafael, Petaluma and Santa Rosa for instance.

Two man operation is crazy, but the insiders have no rr or transit experience. I guess when deep in red ink they will go after existing bus subsidies and GG Bridge money. That should rouse some serious discontent, especially from the low income and handicapped crowd who are better served by buses which come closer to where they live and work.

All is up in the air, in particular as to ridership and grade crossing wrecks. I am guessing around Halloween for startup of ops. Appropriate theme and they probably don't want to inaugurate when it is raining.
