Off time in Yuma......? Worst case? Back in my day.........hum?
First you go to Red's Roost, then you go to the Birdcage, then at 1 pm Arizona time, you go west, running the gauntlet of Imperial Valley Sheriff's, Reservation Police, and CHP to Red's Place in Winterhaven, where you could drink for two more hours. But, you sometimes had to have at least three people along, because the $100 "away from home" car you are in has no reverse, and so with the angle parking, you'd need two folks to push you out into traffic.....
This often uncertain and long "dead time" away from home terminal, on layover, waiting to be called, for which you are mostly not paid (with occasionally a few exceptions for really long situations....), is among the suckiest parts of being "on the road". And, this uncertain layover "dead time" has directly accounted for at least a few suicides and fatal accidents, that I am personally aware of, as a result.
I loved running on the East end, both out of Indio and out of West Colton, but I grew to truly loath spending often 24 to 48 hours in those crappy SP "modules", in an utter armpit of a town like Yuma....
