You're nuts! The modules sucked, that's why....... Thank God there's some regulation, or God only knows what they'd do, or try to get away with, to save a nickel by screwing the men (and women), if they could. That was my experience in how they treated crews, all too often.
I think you said that you're just starting out? Well you do sound pretty wet behind the ears thinking that barracks would be such a fine idea. Wait awhile, and miss your anniversary, or the death of a loved one, or sleep all night in a beg bud ridden company double wide "module", and then we'll talk....
Are they teaching you how to use your belt pack? Rowland Fogarty was the last real hoghead on the Anaheim jobs, when they finally showed up with the belt pack. Are there any real hogheads left? Aren't you all now "operating employee's" or "conductors"....?
I'm officially old, and so are most of my former RR colleagues, and while all of us loved railroading, and running trains (some of us still do...), the RR has changed so much for the worse as a job, that none I know are sorry that they're not having to take a call any more at 2 in the morning.
