Brightline will be using FEC tracks from Miami to Cocoa FL, then turn west onto dedicated private right of way into Orlando International Airport. The AAF team are targeting European and Asian tourists who are accustomed to riding high speed trains as a primary means of transport. Any Americans that ride are considered gravy on the meat! AAF studies show that a majority of traffic on the freeways between Orlando and Miami are tourists, and by providing a high speed luxury service, at an affordable price, they plan on taking that traffic off the public highway system.
AAF trains will run at speeds up to 110 mph between Miami and Cocoa, and 125 mph between Cocoa and Orlando.
AAF also wanted European looking train sets based on the Siemens Railjet platform. The Charger locomotives are in the Siemens Vectron locomotive family, and the coaches being built for AAF are based on the Railjet platform.
