All of that traffic at the Sir Francis Drake offramp is not for the ferry. It's for east bay bound commuters coming off the Golden Gate Bridge after crossing it for free and looking to go across the Richmond San Rafael Bridge for free too on their way back to East Bay. It's sort of unfar. Marin gets all that traffic. But the Bay Bridge gets all the monies. They should reverse the tolls to kill this traffic.
150 riders is SMART's projected ridership. Why not put these riders on buses in San Rafael? Now, SMART could build a road, they basically already have one, on the train ROW at Andersen Drive in San Rafael and have an exclusive bus route through the tunnel to Larkspur Station. Then they could pull down off the right of way via an access RD. that already exists and cross Sir Francis Drake to meet ferries.
SMART is not supposed to decrease traffic. It is supposed to provide an alternative for Sonoma commuters to driving. Maybe a few folks from Novato. Novato has three stations, did you know that?
