Hathaway siding just out of BI had a controlled signal at the east end, and a spring switch at the west. Real CTC was extended in pieces, but continuously during WW2- I looked it all up once - and forgot it
IIRC, poorly, maybe 1942 at Goldtree and finished at Santa marGRita 1943, if not 1942.
Another earlier bit was Oxnard to Montalvo, probably done to accommodate the replacement gas electric for trains 350 and 349, in the mid 1930s. The numbers were the same but the trains were cutSome time they ran via Chatsworth, SantaPaula and San Fernando in a loop
Dunno when that CTC was removed, if it was- I photo'd the End CTC sign at Oxnard in the 80s
There was poorman's CTC north of Salinas
