Dick,
Don't forget that is CA. Before they can rebuild they will want to make code changes:
Like all steel 2x4s, (no lumber allowed) sprinkler systems inside with supporting tanks, wells and generators, no trees allowed within 4,000 of home, solid steel roof and siding. They will get the cost of a $250,000 home up to about 1.8 million (that's the low side)and then come the cost of permits. While they are at it, the growers (both kinds) will have to plant their crops ONLY if they don't burn. (Funny tasting wine)
Oh, insurance companies are going to have a great time not paying full value. I know, I have been through that. Had State Farm for 43 years. Never had a claim. We had a hail storm in the area about 4 years ago and at least 35 people had to have new roofs and their cars fixed in our area. After 43 years, State Farm canceled a lot of people in our area over an act of God and Oregon let them get away with it.
Those folks are just starting to get an education of their life.
