That was on Cuesta Grade at the east end of Serrano. #75 side swiped #76. The crew on #75 failed to stop in time. No booze involved. It was closed out as fatigue (I think) on No.75s' engine crew.
John Weaver was the Fireman out of the City. When he had enough whiskers, he worked out of SLO and retired off the east end to LA. He suffered from Narcolepsy. You had to keep an eye on him when you fired for him. Sometimes he was just fine other times we would move 20' and he was asleep. We always watched out for our own.
