It is apparently walk "or" chew gum, as it may be too difficult for some people to do more than one thing at a time, too complicated to understand.....
I don't know about you Arlen, but as a taxpayer, I'll happily take a ten minute time savings per train each way in operating cost savings, at an operating cost likely over $700 per train hour?
Of course, I was trained to understand that "time", in this case especially, is quite often actually "money", despite my lack of proper "focus" on that "minor" issue. And of course, I understand that saving time, even a "mere" ten minutes per trainset, allows for more equipment and crew availability, to be able to provide more service within a given budget constraint. And then there are those stupid travel demand surveys I've have done, that also keep showing that most travelers actually do prefer shorter trips to longer ones.......even by ten minutes less..... But, whatever, obviously it's stupid of me to think that way, what do I know......?
Yes Arlen, I have asked why Congress didn't fund PTC adequately for Amtrak, and why Joe Boardman didn't take this priority seriously, when the 2010 elections resulted in a Congress that was not, did not, and is not now going to provide that funding. Of course, I also pissed of the other side of the aisle by pointing out the Obama Administration and FRA's failures, especially in getting the FDD off of its ass, as well. Has something changed with the eunuch's in Congress since I posted that yesterday, that has changed that situation one iota? Yeah, it sucks.....
