KING-TV found that the original plans for the project included realigning the 30 mph curve to 100 mph standards but WSDOT did not want to spend the money and left the curve at the original alignment. Several other speed restricted curves were set for realignment in the original plans but were not realigned. WSDOT stated that all trackage meets FRA standards and it is up to Amtrak to see that employees are trained to comply with operational restrictions.
